I answered the telephone at work today. Guess that was my first mistake. A lady wanted to book a birthday party. I informed her that she would need to come in, and make a $25 deposit to do the actual booking of the party. She said that she had tried calling two other times, and ended up leaving messages, but has not had a call back. I say I am sorry, but we just do not do the bookings over the phone, she would need to come in. She raised her voice, and changed the tone. She says to me, "Listen, YOU NEED TO KNOW I WORK FULL TIME, MY HUSBAND HAS JUST HAD SURGERY, AND I CANNOT COME IN!" I again apologize, and say she is yelling at the wrong person. We do not book parties over the phone, it requires an in store visit. She then turns the table, and yells louder at me, "I AM NOT YELLING, WHAT MAKES YOU THINK I AM YELLING?" ....ummmm, your tone and your volume?

I offer to have "B" call her, and try to set something up, but it is out of my hands. She then wants to know when "B" will be in, and I say she is out of the store today, but will return tomorrow. She wants to know her exact hours, which I do not know. SHe then says che cannot believe I am in charge of this entire operation today, without being able to book a party over the phone, or that I do not know "B"s work schedule. I want to drop kick this woman at this point, good thing she wasn't within reach.

So, I take her name and number. I tell her that she can come in tonight, after she finishes her work (which she suggested), and someone will be able to book a party for her.

"B" walks in the door two minutes later, and I was still fuming with anger. I do tell her what had transpired and she tried calling the lady. She does not answer her telephone. "B" listens to the messages, and says she had only called once, just last evening. THere are two openings for parties on the day she wants, and I booked one of them after our incident today. I sent a text message to "B" telling her I did that, and she says I can still book the 3:00 opening too, if someone else comes in with the deposit. HUH? She sort of sided WITH me on this? Amazing...

I had put a roast beef, potatoes, onions, carrots and garlic into a crock-pot this morning. I made scratch biscuits to go with it all when I got home. I am well fed and could use some sleep.

Was thinking I should start including what book I am currently reading, but the titles I choose would make most people laugh at me, instead of with me. I finished "Bone Black" last night, and starting a Mike Lupica one tonight. I have very weird tastes in books, but always have my nose in one.
