Nothing too much happened today. It was a pleasant day. This has to be because of someone being on vacation, and not breathing down my neck! So, instead I will tell a Family Story...Deep dark secret family story... As you may know, Mike and I have three daughters. Poor Mike has always been, and will always be...outnumbered. He rarely gets "manly" time here at home. Never has...If you remember from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" The old woman says the women are the necks, the men are the heads...the neck controls where the head looks/goes....or something like that. Well, one time, we had packed up the kids, the bikes, the tent, sleeping bags...everything in (or on) our little Volkswagon GTI, and gone camping for a few days, over on the Washington Peninsula, Hood Canal area. When we finally arrived all the girls wanted to do was to ride their bikes. Alisha had a flat tire and dad had promised he would fix it when we got there. Of course, when we got there, all he wanted to do was to set up camp. The boyscout in him needed to put up the tent, spread out sleeping bags, set up the campstove, cooking area, and whatever else he can come up with...piss on every tree in our spot perhaps? Anyway, I felt sorry for her, as her sisters are circling the entire campground on their bikes, and she is stuck watching him set up camp. I know pretty much how to fix the tire, we are merely replacing the tube with a new one. I got it all done, and I was pumping the tire up, nearly done. She was so excited, mom can do this stuff! WOW! What a cool mom! ummmm...yeah...at some point, the tube came out around the rim, right at the same time Mike realized what I was up too. Instead of me being upset, or embarrased, with my girls looking on, I said, "Is it supposed to bulge out like that?" Mike, being the man that he is, simply took over. He took it apart, and re-did whatever it was that I screwed up, while I went off about my business (probably away to read a good book or something). Alisha was off and riding in no time, and he was able to get back to his boyscout duties. Now, whenever we are stuck doing something that we really want him to do, we just wink at each other, and say...."is it supposed to bulge out like that?"...and he still has NO CLUE whatsoever that this really happened... I love that man...would not know what to do without him. We live, love and laugh daily...next month we will celebrate our 24th anniversary. I stopped by QFC and picked up a rotisere chicken, and some creamy goodness, and threw pesto fettucini together for dinner. Learing just what fits and what doesn't fit into my saddle bags. |
