Mike and I made it home safely...We logged just under 600 miles in two days of riding. We hit a whole lot of beautiful scenery, and twisty roads. I must say the great state of Washington offers a whole lot of those...it must, as we are planning to do a more thorough loop in July. Yesterday, we left Kennewick around 10:00. we made our way to Mabton on the backroads, then dropped down to the Columbia Riverm and traveled on our side along the Oregon border. We holed up in Woodland for the night, then planned on back tracking a little, and seeing more of Mt St Helens. The road we needed was closed due to excessive snow, and the other is gravel, so we made our way back to Woodland. Close to three hours, two tanks of gas, and 90 miles gone...Good thing it was a beautiful ride. Three hours really cut into our day. We wanted to make it all the way home without ever touching the Interstate. We did fairly well, making it to Tacoma, before we just got on I-5 and cruised home. Our dog Mickey did not fair se well in our absence. we got a choppy phone call while riding on Saturday. Mind you we were in the middle of bumfuct Egypt, and had questionable coverage at best. "it popped out and I can't get it back in!" huh? We had to make it to some sort of civilization and call Brittany back to find out. By that time we had several messages. Mickey is a Lab/Shepherd mix, and has always been hampered with poor hips. Every once in a while one will pop out, but she always manages to get it back, and then takes a pain pill and chills for a while. This time was not so easy. After an emergency vet visit, and $300, we find her hip is okay. She has terribly bad arthritis in her knees, and a tear/torn ACL. I need to take her to her regular vet for further exam. They gave us 5 (five) pain pills for $40...omg... Mike saw a road today and he swears it was called "Fluckingher". I don't know, I didn't see it. I should have insisted we turn around, but we were so far behind schedule already. I had to ask him twice what he said over the radio system, and then I asked him if Gabriels favorite restaraunt 'MuddFuckers' was down there... Ahhhh, to be back in my bed...I am so spoiled. I will sleep well tonight. |
