Hot Water Tank +

I got to work today, to find that the hot water tank had started to fail...severely. The boss had been called, and the new one was to be delivered within the hour. Somehow, I wsa the one to deal with the upcoming flood of workmen, and all the situations that were coming. My supervisor told me to keep the place open as long as possible.

So, they get the new tank installed in record time. I text the supervisor, saying just that. All is well...THEN...as that three man crew were taking last minute checks on the new tank, the pressure relief valve blew out a bunch of water...After putting the guage on it, they find that we have 150lbs of pressure. This number should be more like 75lbs. I am not really sure what all that means, but that we need a part that they don't have with them, and it will cost $600+, and they need to have the co2 guys there to move a co2 tank temporarily, this move it back to its permanent location. I cannot authorize any of that, and make what seems like a hundred calls, back and forth to the supe, the c02 guys, the PSE (Pusget Sound Energy) guys...The tank guys were NOT allowed to leave the tank as is, they were under their orders that it wa a dangerous situation. YAY...sheeesh...The other managers asked me what was going on, and I tried to explain it to them. They asked how dangerous it was, and I just said that I would not go stand there for much time, but if the boss came in, I would give her a good book to read while she was there...hehehe, devious me.

So the new tank is installed, the new pressure relief valve is installed, the co2 tank is temporariy moved, and the put back. We served 2 liter Coke products, in the interim. The boss, supervisor and the maintenance guy all came to oversee the last part of it (whew).

So, I am still trying to figure out my vacation days. I think I will be staying around the house this weekend, and getting some big chores completed. My ride with the ladies group was cancelled, which is too bad, as I really wanted to do that one. I will still get a ride in, perhaps a big one anyway, but I do not know at this point. Maybe something on the Penninsula, as we have not been there yet this year.

Dinner was a seafood paella. It turned out very good, and I will try to make it more often. Something about using the world's most expensive food item in a recipe makes you want to eat a lot of it. One of my crew members had gone home to Indian, and brought me a baggie full of saffron. I do not know how much it cost her, she would not take payment. It wasn't in any type of conventional storage container. She just said that stuff is cheap over there, are you kidding? It is the only recipe I have that calls for it.
