What a day! I had said we needed to leave the house by 6:30 this morning. Yeah, with Mike in tow, we left here a bit after 7, and then had to stop and put fuel into his bike. We made it to Enumclaw at 8:45, which meant no breakfast for me. I do not do well with no food in my stomache. I have never been diagnosed as any type of diabetic, but I am sure I am a borderline, at least. I had thrown in a ziplock baggie, filled with fruit snacks, beef jerkey, and nuts, and a few bottles of water, as it is always best to have something and not need it, than to need it, and not have it. This was the bag that was leftover from our trip last month, so it was a bit depleted to begin with...it is now EMPTY, yes EMPTY. I even handed out jerkey to the boys in the group. It took us an hour to get to the meet-up spot, then south towards the mountains. There were five R1200C's to begin our journey, so that was pretty cool. Then Harry, on his beige C, with his buddy on his RTP, got left behind as they stopped for fuel. Mike waited up for them, and those two decided to only go to Mt Rainier, so Mike had to catch up to us. That meant I was riding with the Chromeheads for 2 or 3 hours, wondering if I would ever see him again. We went towards Windy Ridge, at Mt St Helens. Mike met us as we stopped at each and every lookout, for pictures. Yes, I forgot my camera, so I am waiting for the guys to post pictures. Perhaps I can figure out how to send a link to them. We didn't get home until after 8pm, and I am exhausted! The last leg of our journey was approx 130 miles, all the way from Packwood, without stopping. My butt was good for longer, but I had a cooling vest on, and I was getting cold. I also had sunglasses on, and it got dark. I had no place to put them, without getting off the bike and using my saddlebags, so I just shoved them inside of my jacket. As we approached the city, it warmed up, so I was not as chilly, that and the water had all dried up. Today was probably the last time we will see over 80 degrees this year. I had invited all of my kids over for a bbq that we would have missed, had any of them been able to show up. I think B&C came over today, as there are floatie toys out there, but who knows? Dinner was at a crappy little place in Packwood. My prime rib that was ordered medium rare, was just past well done. The sodas were flat, and I asked her to keep the skimpy little water glass of mine coming, and she never once refilled it. |
