Having the Boss live at my home for the last couple of months has really opened my eyes to the way the company treats store managers. This is a woman whom has just separated from her husband, is renting an apartment soon, and will have her children back to where they belong. It has been a struggle at best for her lately. Not that any of the uppity-ups care in the least...The Boss thinks they must have some sort of 'exit-strategy' going on for her. Like, piss her off to the point she quits, so it cannot be claimed as a 'desmissal'. They have been down her throat and up her ass at the same time. Today was to be her day off, yet on Sunday night, one of the crew called in sick, and there was no time to find a replacement, so who goes in to work, so that the inventory can be completed? The Boss. Who did the actual inventory? The manager that was on duty, while the Boss worked on schedules, and took care of customers. Who came in to help me during lunch, and the afternoon? The Boss once again, knowing that the other manager had done the schedules, and it called for 7 people, and he gave me 5, and one of them had called in sick. 4 people, to do the work of 7! Not even I am that good. Well, I am sure I could do it, but not in a timeley fashion, and who wants to wait for fast food? The Boss spent much of the day in tears, as the supervisors kept calling, texting, faxing, whatever else about the stat report, and the crappy inventory. Oh...on another note... We got word the other day, that since my daughter works at my store, and Shari's daughter works at HER store...see where this is going? It seems Shari has been giving Jennifer preferential treatment. She gets the fun, easy jobs, and the other crew have become agitated. this is NOT the case with my and Caitlyn. BOth the girls are trainers, the same position, and roughly the same experience. I worked with Jennifer before and I thought the same types of things, but I really liked her. ANyway, the solution they cam eup with? Just swap the kids, one for the other, effective with the next schedule. No one bothered to ask the girls, just to tell them they would be transferred. Well, Jennifer has refused to come to my ghetto store, as she has another job in Monroe, and would rather be closer to that one. Since she is the princess, she will be transferred there, and Caitlyn is still going ot Canyon Park. My Ghetto Store will get NOTHING in return for her. We DON'T have any trainers to throw away! This chaps my hide in ways unimaginable. I am not in a position to do too much babying of her. We only get so many crew, and it is pretty much "Aces in their places". The best person for the tack at hand does it. Caitlyn is very good, and handles all things well. She can run for drive-thru and front counter at the same time, while others cannot. I call that working her harder, not cottling. whatever...I hope she still has her wits about her when this is done. I went grocery shopping recently and the fridge is stocked for a few meals. Last night we had pork roast, while tonight Mike and I had 'brinner', which our kids always called breakfast for dinner. Sausages, eggs and toast. I made the Boss a leftover batch of scalloped potatoes from the other night. Can't really have too much of those. I now have ribs marinating in sauce and Coke for tomorrow night. I will find time in the morning to throw them in the crock pot, and perhaps if I am really spoiled, Mike can put 'em on the BBQ for a few minutes. mmmmmmmmmmmm I fell asleep on the couch tonight, and snored pretty good. Mike thought it was funny, and didn't hound me to go to bed, as he usually does. I slept for all of about 15 minutes, and felt pretty refreshed. Took a shower, wne to bed, coundn't sleep, got up, marinated those ribs, and found the computer still on. SO, here I am, at nearly midnight...sheeeesh, what a tangled web I have woven. Weird, crazy awake hours for me. The Boss goes to someones house to "house/dog sit" for them for just over a week tomorrow. The next day, she will move into her apartment. Sounds weird, too...but I will mourn for her company. We have really gotten to know each other, and find that we really like each other. We get along great, and have found many things in common. I think her and I will be life-long friends. She says that also, and that she really does not make such close tight friends that easily. My nest will be empty once more, 'cept I am closer to her than I was to the kids, as we share interests that I never had with them. |
