Alisha called me the other day...asks if I happen to have the baby's brown jacket at my house, since she cannot find it at hers. I look around and low and behold, I find it. I tell her that I will take it to work on Wednesday, and her, her two sisters, and Aurelia can come have breakfast, and pick it up, in time to visit the pumpkin patch for pictures with the brown jacket. Makes for a nice fall scene. I put the coat into the car right then, so I won't forget it. One Wednesday morning, I take the jacket to work. I was carrying it in, and Nancy commented on the very small coat. I remember that part, so I know for a fact the caot made it into the building. I arrived at 9:00. Alisha said they would be there between 9:30 and 10:00. The opening manager left at 9:15. I noticed the jacket missing at 9:30. I asked each and every person in the building if they had seen the coat. They each denied it. I looked all over the place. I then tried calling the departed opening manager, to ask if she had mistakenly taken it home with her, since she was the only person that had left. Her listed phone number has been disconnected. -deep sigh- I sent a text to the boss, asking if there may be any chance of a different number for that person. I explained the situation to her. She contacted someone, and sent the other number to me. I tried that one, and left a message asking if hse had seen the coat. In the meantime, Alisha had cancelled her trip to the pumpkin patch, since it was raining heavily (welcome to Seattle) and she came in around 1:00 to pick it up. I still had not been able to find the thing, and had to tell her it was missing at that time. My daughter cried over that jacket. She said it was her favorite one, and she had purchased it soley for fall pictures, from The Baby Gap, on the clearance rack (my kid, YAY!) so there was NO replacing this thing. Later in the day, I get a phone call from said manager. She is absolutly yelling at me, saying I have told each employee that she has stolen that jacket. SHe just keeps yelling, "Why did you tell everyone I stole that jacket?!" and again, "Why did you tell everyone that I stole that jacket!?!" Now i was quite busy at that moment, and I tried two or three times to tell her that I in fact did not say that. I simply wanted to ask you if you had seen it, or knew if anyone had taken it. SHe yelled at me one more time, and I simply yelled back into the phone, "I do not have time to listen to this right now" CLICK. I then threw the phone, and continued on during the busy time with the guests. They each are looking at me, a bit frightened, and the new assistant asks me, "Was that ______?" I say yes, and that she just kept accusing me of calling her a thief that I couldn't take it any longer. She then says, "Ya know, she will probably come in here now." I then sort of yelled once more, saying, "If she comes in yelling at me like she just did, then I am going to punch her in the face"...the whole while, the person whom actually took and still had the jacket, is listening in to this whole conversation. Now, I have not only been accused of calling her a thief, I am going to hit her. right...I would NEVER do that...jeeeeezuz, oh jeeeeezuz... Guess who showed up? Yep, I was working in the kitchen, when she walked in, and through to the office, breezing right past me. I refused to catch her eye, as I was so upset. The assistant follows her, and they go to the break room for a while. I can't really remember just who talked to who, or what was said, but I did tell her eventually that I never said she took it. I merely wanted to ask her if she had seen the coat. SHe then springs on me, "And you want to punch me in the face, too"...Now she should not have known about that part, unless someone specifically told her. I hear that I could be arrested for merely saying those words, but in the context that I used them, I doubt that would hold up. "If she comes in here yelling at me like she did, I will punch her in the face"...whatever... The next day was Thursday, the day I watch Aurelia. I get a text message by 8:00 in the morning, saying that the jacket had shown up, and was in the office. I ask if Caitlyn was working at the time, so she could take it. SHe was not, and that person asked if she sould take it for me and put it in her car. I said nope, perhaps you could suggest to the manager to place it in the safe, since it is such a hot commodity. That was done, and it was still there when I arrived to work on Friday. I have not spoken one word to any of them about it, even if I do know now just which one of them took it. It was the one that I had suspected, the one with the niece just a few months younger than my grand daughter. She is the one that ran to the other manager telling her everything in her words, rather than mine. I really could not belive that the manager would have taken the coat. She does have a baby, but he is a boy, and he is a fat little thing. A girlie brown jacket would not have fit him at all. he caot is still at my house, I guess until I see them Thurday...Aurelia has a new trick. She can answer a bunch of questions, like, "What sound does a ______ make?" fill in the blank with, lion, sheep, monkey, duck, dog, cat...you get the picture...Well, my new sound making creature....is GRANDMA! "What sound does Grandma make?" and she now purses her lips together, and says "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmuuuuuuuaaaaaaaahhh!!" with the biggest kiss noise ever! It is so great! I hope the other grandma is as excited about it as I am... |
