wow...due to lack of managers at my location, I have had been the only manager on duty for 15 of my last 16 scheduled hours. That last hour was me counting a deposit while the manager that had just came in covered. Not that being the only one on duty is difficult, but really, we usually have double coverage for most of the time. Being solo means that there is no one to second guess me, nor try to persuade me to do things another way. It is "what I say goes"...get over it. Things went well, except the fact it was slower than cold molassis and it is always harder to work through slow times than busy. I have to watch labor, and make sure I don't let things get away. Send people home early, if sales are not there. I thought things went fairly well. Not that I cared too much. Caitlyn was transferred to a different location a month ago or so. SHe really doesn't like the other store, and is not fitting in well there. She sent a text to me thins morning, saying she hates it, and wants to return. They put her in a manager uniform, while she is going through training, instead of when she completes it. The managers there place her ina one position each day...a crew position, the easiest, most boring position. Liek perhaps they do not know she is in training, or they are just ignorant, and complasive, and dwell on what they think she knows. At our store, she did 3 things simultainiously, with little or no effort. SHe is bored to tears there, and a friend of mine, sent a text saying she found Caitlyn pretty upset while in the restroom. I then sent a text to the two supervisors asking if there isn't something that can be done. She needs to be treated properly. They have set her up for failure, and she wants to quit. That really upset me today... Caitlyn and her boyfriend, Justin came over for dinner tonight. We had carne asada, with beans, rice, fresh salsa...it was pretty darned good. Oh, I had a real customer complaint today. Lady was pretty upset, and said she had just paid $8 for a hamburger (really, $8??) and wanted a phone number to call to complain that we were going to charge her 10 cents for a bbq sauce. The boss says that isn't a legitimate complaint, and will not count against me. whew...I hope that is true. |
