A "G-Rated Journal" That Even My Mother Can Read (because she does!)

Effervescence is a state of mind. It's about choosing to bring sunshine to the day.
Every person I meet matters.

Take Away My Scissors

Wed Aug 24 - Apparently today I need to be put in a padded room with rounded corners, and given lots of pillows. Then, knowing my luck, I'll trip over the pillows and hurt myself further.

It started with popping a piece of gum in my mouth, on the drive to work, and accidentally biting the inside of my lip hard enough to make it bleed. Yeah, not a good blend with bubble gum.

Then when I was parked, I needed to finish up some stitching in my car before going in to work. My sheepskin steering wheel cover was coming off, so I wanted to quickly stitch it back to together. And my blouse needed a button put back on. I stabbed at least four different fingers, bled at least 2 or 3 times, and this was WITH using a thimble to avoid being stabbed.

Then when I went to get a latté at work, I was trying to put my sunglasses back on to go outside. Right before I got to the door, I sloshed hot latté all over my hand. By the time I got back to the kitchen to rinse everything off, the drink was a cold liquid to cool the burn. *shakes her head at herself*

Later as I was munching on a bagel, I think I bit the inside of the BACK of my cheek. Yes, would someone please take away these sharp-pointy scissors before I run through the house? Someone's getting their eye poked out today, and I really don't want it to be me.

I'm very glad that the above adventure pretty much ended there, with the exception of running into a door handle with my right forearm. Exactly where I smacked my arm into the same door handle yesterday. I'm pretty certain I can see a bruise forming now. *sigh*

At least, on a good note, it was a Wednesday-catering-for-the-students day. Wednesdays are "Greek Day" around here, which meant there was rice, salad, crab cakes, pita, hummus, and that creamy cucumber yoghurt stuff that goes with some greek food. I skipped the meat skewers, because I can't eat beef anymore or "my tummy gets all grumbly" in a bad way, and the only chicken or pork skewer left didn't look all that appetizing. But fortunately there were enough left-overs that I could pack a dinner plate for later. And the baklava was okay (unlike the one time it was burnt, blech!), and there was enough to eat with my lunch, dinner, and some to save for tomorrow.

And best of all, I really did get all ten chapters done today for the trainer's review tonight and edits tomorrow. We only have tomorrow left to complete this book, because we're both gone from work on Friday and it's due on Monday. So all I have to do is get through tomorrow, getting every graphic and screenshot made, imported into the document, and approved by the trainer. Then I'll have Monday to finish all the nit-picky publishing details and I will have met my deadline. Yea me!

And I'm really pleased about my upcoming evening. A friend is coming over to hang out and relax. We were going to hang out last night, but apparently fencing practice ran long and turned into a trip to Starbucks, so we just chatted on the phone and made plans for today instead. And it's a case of "I like your apartment better than mine" which re-inforces what I say every day, "We have the cutest apartment in the world." Mel and I really do have a cute apartment, and now all our friends like coming over to spend time with us in our Cute Apartment™. What a pleasure, what a joy!
