A "G-Rated Journal" That Even My Mother Can Read (because she does!)

Effervescence is a state of mind. It's about choosing to bring sunshine to the day.
Every person I meet matters.

If it's written down, I know it (If it's not written down, I don't know it)
If it's color-coded, I understand it (If it's not color-coded, I don't understand it)

Memories, Alumni, and Quilts

Thu Mar 23 - Happy Birthday to Hope/Eleyn and to Shoshana today!
* * * * *

Memory facinates me. The things that can be triggered are surprising, and I'll find myself down a path wondering "How did I get here?"

I was listening to my Favorites playlist on shuffle, and a favorite song from an old Michael W. Smith album came up [I 2 (Eye)]. So I stopped the shuffle and played the album start to finish, enjoying all those musical memories from my youth.

Then, I remembered a friend from my tour with the Continentals who was also a huge Michael W. Smith fan. So it crossed my mind to look up on the internet whether there were any Continentals alumni websites. There's a huge members-only site, where I registered today and hopefully I can re-connect with some old friends. (I may have found my old assistant director.)

Later in the day, I was idly remembering other tours I'd been on, and so I looked up the Velvet Knights, Drum and Bugle Corps (DCI). I found a site that sells musical download recordings from every DCI finals in history. You can listen to a sample of *me* on tour with VK '86, by scrolling down to the Velvet Knights (placing 12th in finals) and clicking on the little > arrow button to "stream" the sample. Hear all the xylophone parts in that tiny sample? One of those mallet players is me. *grin*

I'm astonished at (1) memory in general, (2) the alumni and associations that I can count in my past. It's as if I could draw up a theatre resume, a musical performance resume, and a touring resume. It's really bizarre, and somewhat awe-inspiring when I actually think about it.

crazy quiltI feel like my life has been one of those crazy quilts, do you know what I mean? I'm incredibly proud of all the little splashes of color in my quilt, and I'm still stitching unusual pieces into my life. And I just learned, by doing some image searches on google, that crazy quilts have all these interesting feathered embroidered seams. Those have suddenly facinated me to no end. I think I've found my quilting niche. I'll let you know if I take up quilting in my (ha!) spare time. *grin*

By the way, Wilhelm made some notes about his decision to fight in Crown, about about asking me to be his inspiration in this list. Feel free to encourage him and leave him comments. *hugs, dear*

Well, I got *some* of the website work done last night that I wanted to, but I really REALLY need to get more of the theatre site updated tonight. The checkbook still isn't fully balanced, but since it's 8:30 pm and I still need to buy groceries and cook for the next week, I think I'll postpone that to tomorrow's lunch hour.

Someone backed into my car recently, and the cover to my driver's side headlight was broken. I had a sneaking suspicion that this was not going to be an easy part to find... I think there were only three years that the Festiva were made by Ford (91, 92, and 93), so the likelihood of headlight covers (or assemblies) being still in stock was fairly slim. Sadly, yes, not only are they hard to come by, they're REALLY expensive! (Over $250 counts as VERY expensive for a square of plastic to cover a $5 light bulb, right?) *heavy sigh* Well, at least now I have two functioning headlights on my car again. And my car guys had a recommendation for a guy that can repair holes in the under-carriage, since driving in the rain means I get water in the bottom of my hatch-back. But the car still runs very well, so it's worth it to keep it in good repair.

Okay, I'm off to shop, cook, organize, and update the theatre site tonight.

Today's Blessing That I'm Thankful For: Alumni associations and thorough website resources. I'm looking forward to finding old acquaintances again.
