A "G-Rated Journal" That Even My Mother Can Read (because she does!)

Effervescence is a state of mind. It's about choosing to bring sunshine to the day.
Every person I meet matters.

Organizing Helps Calm

Wed Nov 15: Organizing Helps Calm - Hmm. Several people commented that I have "more energy" than anyone they know. I get that a lot. And yet, it never seems like that from my perspective. I feel downright lazy and sedentary. Just because I have a long list of goals and projects, does not make me an energetic person. I am fairly often perplexed and confused when I hear these comments.

I did take a moment this afternoon to get a few ducks in a row, so to speak, for all the scribal arts things I'm caretaker for as the Royal Scribe. We received many new painted scroll blanks this past weekend, so I counted up all the award blanks and have a new inventory number on hand. I also noted that a few of them could use a tiny bit more paint or color, so I might tackle that this week.

I set up a small folding table in the living room, to collate all my scrolls and supplies and thank you card's information. Apparently I own more art supplies than I remembered—the table is overflowing with stuff. It will be interesting to manage the work for the next six months.

I also had a lovely lunch with Meala, during which we discussed several costuming goals and projects we're launching. We refined our patterns and plans from the costuming book, and sorted out how many different articles of clothing we're making (and who's making which ones, in which order). I'm in awe that she's inspiring me to get this sewing done: I must have needed a costuming partner all along. But then again, this is not really a surprise. My same-ol-same-ol that I wear currently is entirely because Morgana was a phenomenal costuming partner more than four years ago. Wow, has it been that long since I really made new clothing? Yikes. That's slightly embarassing.

So the scribe work is picked up and ready in a nice work area. The sewing goals have been sorted and prioritized, so now I just have to take the sewing machine out every week and complete the work. I'm even partially caught up on some web-design work (the theatre site is up-to-date, the baronial calendar is 1/3rd built for 2007, and the shire calendar for 2007 is done). There are two business meetings coming up for the Fiber Retreat and the Dyeworks Business (separate meetings, respectively), so I've been postponing work on them for a few weeks.

As a small distraction, I started a few entries into my LibraryThing catalog, and decided I liked it enough to be a paid member. And a friend of mine asked if my Amazon.com wishlist was up-to-date (it wasn't), so I updated that, too. (And just for you, Dayle, I weeded the obsolete items off my Froogle list, too, since my Amazon list has all my book and music wishlist items. See? I do listen to you! *grin*)

It's been over a week since I worked on any of my photo albums, so I really ought to squeeze a few photo updates back into my weekly schedule. Then it's laundry and paying bills tonight, which rounds out the household chores. And although I did not exercise on Monday, I'm thinking of walking during my laundry loads tonight, and I have walking scheduled for Friday.

I also got to go into the studio last night, and the guys finally have the mics and headphones sorted out so that we can play directly into the recording mix, without any speakers turned on. This is extremely important for recording, but don't ask me anything about why or the technical things. "I is just da singer, I is." And fortunately my keyboardist is free tomorrow afterall, which means we'll get to be in the studio twice this week.

Afterwards, I swung by coffee with friends to hang out for maybe a half-an-hour. I hadn't seen several of them in weeks or months, and others just in days. Sometimes I forget how much I love each person differently until I see them again and it's all so obvious. I do love these folks immensely.

Speaking of loving some friends immensely—I bought my first Tivo on the "best friend discount" from my college best-friend Kristin. Later I bought a series 2 TiVo (mistakenly thinking it could record 2 programs at once, doh! it can't!), and just this year I finally swapped the two out. TiVo no longer sells "lifetime service" so I have to pay a monthly fee, but with only one television in the house, it was kind of a waste to have a lifetime-service TiVo just sitting in a box, unused. Enter one very happy Saul, who finally got cable service... and now got a fully paid-for TiVo to hook up and Season Pass his favorite shows like mad. *gigantic grin* Love you, brother of my heart! Enjoy!

So, off to do laundry, get some exercise in, and then get back to "work-work" for the late evening hours.
