A "G-Rated Journal" That Even My Mother Can Read (because she does!)

Effervescence is a state of mind. It's about choosing to bring sunshine to the day.
Every person I meet matters.

If it's written down, I know it (If it's not written down, I don't know it)
If it's color-coded, I understand it (If it's not color-coded, I don't understand it)

Happy Flip the Calendar: New Energy

Happy Flip the Calendar: New Energy - Some of you have heard that I joke that I celebrate an extra 12 holidays throughout the year. Once a month, I have an special holiday celebration called, "Happy Flip the Calendar Day." Some months I flip the calendar a little early, or a little late, but it's always something different for me to get to flip a calendar *on* the first of the month. Yes, I know, I'm a loon. *grin*

Anyways, I got to celebrate first thing in the morning, flipping the large calendar on the side of the fridge, the large calendar in my room, the Jewish calendar that Thomasina gave me for my birthday, the Caidan calendar over the kitchen sink, and the Antique Maps calendar near my desk. My page-a-day calendars (and I have two) are rarely part of my monthly holiday.

Combine my first-day job-hunting again with a flip-the-calendar day, it was a beautiful recipe for renewed energy and new ideas. I've been agonizing over how to fit exercising regularly into a daily routine, and just kept hitting a wall. I'd barely been able to squeeze two weekly appointments for walking into my routine. But today I had a great idea, and it worked, it really worked! I average about a mile in a 20-min walk. So I thought, if I were to walk 5 minutes for every hour, that would equate 2 miles and/or 40 minutes added exercise in an 8-hour work day. And rather than breaking to walk every hour, a ten-minute walk every two hours would break up my day neatly. I'd finally get away from my desk occasionally, and I'd finally get regular exerices into my day. (And it all totals the same as "two 20-min breaks" in a work day, which I =never= take.)

So I went on a 10-minute brisk walk at 8 am, before sitting down to work. I went out again at 10 (on the dot), for another brisk 10-minute walk. I met up with Caterina for lunch, returned all my passes and decals to the Navy base, filled up the car with gas, and got back home. At 2 pm when my appt alarm went off on my phone again, I went for a 20-min walk to wrap up the whole afternoon. It worked! And it was fun, and it was easy to force myself out there for the exercise. I finally found my new exercise niche.

I also figured out a better trick for my day-runner/calendar organization system, and I've got a daily-to-do list to put next to my projects-to-do list. This way I can manage my daily chores with my weekly, monthly, and long-term projects in my calendar.

I feel good.
