A "G-Rated Journal" That Even My Mother Can Read (because she does!)

Effervescence is a state of mind. It's about choosing to bring sunshine to the day.
Every person I meet matters.

If it's written down, I know it (If it's not written down, I don't know it)
If it's color-coded, I understand it (If it's not color-coded, I don't understand it)

2007: The Year in Review

2007: The Year in Review - Using my online master calendar and my journal entries from 2007, here's what I found. Wow, it revealed that writing really helps me. I'd forgotten so many of these stories, and re-reading my journal entries really impressed me favorably.

Enjoy. I know I did.
* * * * *

January - Lots of sewing for me, Meala, and the secret reveal for Raphael, some visiting with my daughter, a new household member, the last time I actually worked in the studio with my band this year, continued working as Royal Scribe for Edric & Faizeh, and attended a total of 4 SCA events in 4 weekends [12th Night, Bardic Collegium, Angels Melee, Unbelted Gyldenholt].

February - Shabbat at my place, more costuming including for me and a secret reveal for Cormac, more music composition, stressful friendship things and then the fixes for them, and 3 SCA events in 4 weeks (but one of them was a week long, and in another state) [Festival of the Rose, Estrella, Lyondemere Arts & Archery].

March - Enjoyed another week long SCA event in another state [this time driving over 4000 miles total], conclude that "all men are punks" at one point, find a reason to take up the sword, my job shifts for the 3rd time and now includes going on base every day, SCA events each of 5 weekends [Starkhafn Anniv, Gulf Wars (2 weekends), Gyldenholt/Calafia Friendship & Pentathlon, King's Hunt].

April - I'm a consort in Crown lists for the 3rd time in a row, enjoy Passover (2 nights) and Havdalah at King's Hunt, my photo site host flakes out completely, and I attend 5 events in 4 weekends [Gallavally Anniv, Crown Starkhafn, Collegium Caidis, (a Jr. High demo) and (college demo) Kaleidescope].

May - I visit the West, Teffan visits Caid, brunch with my Mom (at her place) and a baby shower (in my shire) all in one day, silly songs and more Crown poems, new songs learned for Potrero performances, I'm a "Crafty Bugger," sewing some last minute Viking clothing for Lot, a friend takes refuge on my couch, and I attended 4 events in 4 weekends [Beltane West Kingdom, Altavia Anniv, Darach Anniv, Spring Potrero].

June - A baby is born in my shire, no posts in my journal at all, accepted Royal Scribe for the next King & Queen (Drogo and Ithuna), the photo site at the old host is completely closed, start Hebrew language classes, 1 weekend off (just hanging out), 1 weekend at the Dyestuffs Retreat, and 3 of 5 weekends at SCA events [Coronation, Queen's Champion Equestrian, KWHSS, Caid Rapier Open].

July - There's a wedding in my shire, Fireworks and Birthday parties, Bachlorette spa party, Aine visits Caid, continued Hebrew classes, 3 events in 2 of 4 weekends [CP Prize Pirate (autocrat), Lyondemere Anniv & Queen's Champion Archery (in one weekend)].

August - There's a death in my shire, I finish publishing my first monthly baronial newsletter, I'm working long hours on the base, big updates to GDW website, I accept the invitation to become an apprentice, finish sewing a new fighting jacket for Lorccan, wrap up Hebrew classes, a birthday party at the Nate's, the Beaching with my household, see my daughter on her birthday, I think long and hard about apprenticeship and peerages, and attend only 1 SCA event in 4 weekends [Purgatorio in West Kingdom].

September - I jet around to 2 wars in 2 days, learn a song from Jeff, write a memorial verse and sing at a wake, attend a household wedding, I'm a consort in Crown lists for the 4th time in a row, enjoy Rosh Hoshanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot, my 39th birthday, attend a funeral, get 2 weeks notice that my job is ending, teach some arts, help with newcomers, and attend a total of 5 events in 4 of 5 weekends [Highland War & Potrero War (in 1 weekend), Crown Tourney, Fall Collegium, Angels Anniv].

October - Full-time job hunting but no job, 1 unsuccessful interview early in the month, 2 promising interviews near the end of the month, enjoy a dinner party at the Nate's, lots of work on my apprenticeship projects, a memorial song written, a friend goes through a divorce, another Crown poem finished, work on photoshop for a calendar, deliver 22 yards of braid to a friend as a surprise, adopt away 2 of my 3 looms, my daughter moves out of state, Curia, wildfires, "More String Better!" is born, 2 Halloween parties, and I attend SCA for 3 of 4 weekends [GWW, Dun Or Anniv, Dreiburgen Anniv].

November - Land a 30-day contract, attend the Hogwarts party, take an Apprenticeship, go sailing with my household, have a big fall, help build goodshipwhitestar.com, we host our first monthly household project day, I enjoy 3 dinner parties at the Nate's, start knitting, start preparing for Bard of Caid, my Dad and Aunt visit from Ohio, Thanksgiving with family, teach some spinning skills from 2 millennium ago, and attend 2 weekend of events out of 4 [Coronation Calafia, Los Con Demo].

December - My 1-month contract is extended 2 months, visit with an old college friend, host a project day with Gary, attend 2 dinner parties at the Nate's, take photos every night for Chanukah for Shosh, host a project day with Eric, enjoy a museum trip, have 1 job interview (no news yet), load more many more photos to my site, start collecting alms, have Christmas with family & friends & household, host our 2nd project day for the household, compose an original Christmas carol, do LOTS of bardic preparation and costuming, attend synagogue a few times, help at another demo, 2 New Year's parties, and 3 weekends of 5 at SCA events [Lyondemere Yule, Angels/Altavia Yule, Darachshire 12th Night].

Other Summaries from this past year:

Where I was in weight-loss in January 07 is where I am again in January 08. *sigh* I definitely didn't exercise enough this year, but I've started a new routine I'm happy about. Need to add walking and/or start running.

I finally fix the broken-heart issues from one crush, get a new crush & then fix the broken-heart issues more quickly, get a new crush and fix it almost instantaneously, have two short dating encounters (one I'm okay with and still like him fondly as a friend, and one I consider a colossally stupid mistake and have no interest in encouraging even his friendship), briefly consider having a crush on a pen pal (hee hee), and develop one deep crush that I've had to reroute emotionally and just embrace healthy friendship instead. Fortunately that friendship is going *extremely* well, and is extraordinarily healthy. I find that it's tough when you know *this* strongly what you really want in life, and there's just nothing less that will satisfy me. I'll be single for a very long time, it looks like, which is weird since that's the last thing I want. That's okay.

Total SCA events: 42, 4 in other states/kingdoms [Arizona, Mississippi, Nevada, and northern CA]
