A "G-Rated Journal" That Even My Mother Can Read (because she does!)

Effervescence is a state of mind. It's about choosing to bring sunshine to the day.
Every person I meet matters.

If it's written down, I know it (If it's not written down, I don't know it)
If it's color-coded, I understand it (If it's not color-coded, I don't understand it)

Twisted Ruth

I hate this. I am motivated to update today because we lost a friend today.

Twisted Ruth - Two good friends, both named Ruth, met most of us at the Dyestuffs Retreat, Fiber Retreat, Dye Days, whatever you want to call them. To help us tell them apart, one goes by "Dizzy Ruth" and one by "Twisted Ruth." Today, Twisted Ruth passed away.

I've scoured my folders of pictures still-not-loaded-online and found several of Twisted Ruth. Even though we only met a few times, I've had the pleasure of being a photographer for several of these Fiber Retreats. Two of these pictures are from the Fiber Retreat in June 2005, three are from a Dye Day in October 2005, and one is from a Fiber Retreat in 2006.

I'd been following her journal, in which lately she'd been posting very regularly about the vacation trip that she and her husband were on. They'd been in Seattle, and we'd been treated to pictures of bridges, boats, views, ...and then stories about her fall, twisted ankle, swollen lip, and recovery. There were cute tales about her husband pushing her around (in wheelchair and immobilization cast), chatting up fellow tourists about her cotton spindle, and through it all her sunny disposition shone.

Her flickr account has over 1400+ pictures of her projects, the cotton she was spinning from her own backyard cotton plant, the Dye Days she hosted, and other exciting adventures.

To All My Loved Ones - Hug and kiss those you love tonight. Know that I adore so many of you, so much. I know that Death is the thief in the night, but it never is easy.

Today's Blessing That I'm Thankful For: Having known Twisted Ruth, even so briefly. Spin well in heaven, my dear.
