A "G-Rated Journal" That Even My Mother Can Read (because she does!)

Effervescence is a state of mind. It's about choosing to bring sunshine to the day.
Every person I meet matters.

Cleaning Energy

Something Fun - Last night, I remarked to a friend about trending phrases in one of her twitter feeds. I remembered a website that creates artistic graphic representations of the most popular words in text (or a blog feed, etc), and put together a wordle.net selection for her. Then I was curious about my own twitter feed, and the following is my favorite image:

It amuses me to no end that key words I use often are include giggle, grin, hugs, good, love, and squee. I like what that says to me about what I say on the internet: I look for ways to share joy and fun. This pleases me.

Okay, to the meat of my thoughts today.

Cleaning Energy - A main focus at home NEEDS to be regular attacks to reduce the clutter I own. Some things in the move still haven't been uncovered or found, and the space I have to work in is significantly smaller than my last apartment. I got carried away organizing and decluttering last night until 2 AM, which was NOT the best choice. (I'm certain I will need a nap or 2 today, since even I need more than 3.5 hrs sleep.) But the best result of this push: Three more shelves on one of my bookcases have been sorted and purged. Office supplies are now more centrally located. I filled a trash bag with paper recycling and removed it from my room. A small stack of books are outside in my "donate this" pile.

Something notable to only me: I re-evaluated my need for a paper organizer. I miss carrying my small organizer binder. I had tried to convert for a few years to a 3-ring binder for calendars and to-do lists, which was only partially successful. I do *love* using 3-ring binders to organize all the 8.5"x11" paper in my life. And I can easily print my Google calendars and carry them in a 3-ring binder. I prefer my online calendars, sync'ed to my cell phone. But I really miss having a small binder for reminders, brain-storming papers, quick notes, a temporary place to hold business cards and post-its until I put them on my computer, etc. I treated my binder like a small purse, and I really miss having it in my routine.

I did toss out / recycle the pages in my binder I would never use again (old calendars, reference guides, organizational articles). And I purged the old binder supplies I had on the shelf down to just what I would use for certain. But I think I'll be returning to the small binder system after all.

My desk at work has been straightened up again. My bag-full-of-misc-paper is back in its "you must do something about this!" place at my desk. And I even rewarded myself visually by hanging calendars at home last night and a new calendar at work this morning.

I'm ready to take on 2011. And it's going to be a GREAT year for me.

Today's Blessing That I'm Thankful For: Keith and Kate. I'm grateful for internet connections, friendship that can span miles and years, and the ability to keep in touch (even if sometimes infrequently).
