Christine's New Chapter
Never look down...

DEMON SOUL was released in MARCH, 2011 by Crescent Moon Press. DEMON HUNT will most likely be released 2012. This, then, is my new reality! The tumor has been removed and I'm recovering, so now it's all about the writing...and dealing with the writing.

Funerals and Fences and Rain

Pages Written... 6
Listening to... the clock ticking

Went to Carol's funeral on Thursday morning. It was a good service and I'm glad I went.

The preacher, as the good ones are wont to do, hit home with me when he said that Carol lived her life to the fullest, as hard as her life seemed to those of us outside it. Then he asked us if we were living our lives to the fullest, following our dreams as hard as we could. And I realized I haven't. I've been waiting for that magic time when the planets are aligned and the universe is ready for my deathless prose.

Which is a bunch of Bandini. So I went home and started a short story for Woman's World. If I write one a week, and send them out every week, one is bound to hit. If I can sell just one, then I've paid for National Conference (which I've already signed up for). That alone would be a huge confidence booster.

So maybe Carol has played her role in my life. She's been on the fringes of it since 2002; if this renewed determination is her legacy to me, then I'm happy to receive it.

The long fence between us and our close neighbor was kept up only by the morning glory. Three posts had snapped during one or the other of the wind storms we'd been having since December, and this weekend is the first chance hubby's had to fix it. And of course it chooses to rain this weekend.

Both boys spent all day yesterday outside, digging out old fence posts, digging new post holes, mixing cement, hauling wood. Good, healthy exercise. Hubby pointed out to our eldest that taking a two hour calculus test is easy compared to working in the rain digging out old cement. Just another spur for them to use their brains.

The rain. As much as it dampened the boys' day, it made mine. And it's raining again today - a misty, drizzly, slow rain, as if there's all the time in the world for it to hit the ground. The day seems to be going slower because of the rain.

Or maybe it's just that I had ten hours of sleep last night, and I get to go to Lulu's today and write that's making my day seem to be on a slow train.

Beef stew for dinner. Gotta warm up my men!
