The last time I wrote, I was mourning the loss of my dogs and gritting my teeth at the lack of my edits.

I'm still missing my dogs but have had my edits - by Sunday it'll be two weeks. And I'm planning on turning them in by this Sunday.

it's funny - no one can force learning on someone who isn't ready. i'm now understanding lessons I wasn't yet ready for when I took the classes. Now I'm having a-ha moments all over the place (Donald Maas workshop in particular - took that one oh, five or six years ago and SO wasn't ready for it). Of course, I'm also learning there is a time to say NO to editors - and a time when it just isn't prudent to say NO to editors.

So, lots of changes when I thought it was a mere copy edit and not an overall edit. But I'm quick when I'm not being lazy, I understand new concepts fast, and I catch my mistakes when they are pointed out to me.

Onward. The book is almost done with this round of edits (I'm on MY second pass this time around) and hopefully the next one will only be a matter of grammar.

In the meantime, the cat has grown again (!!!) and the rain is coming down, which I love.
