We got it!!

We got the rugs! We got the furniture! Now I have sore legs and back!! For not seeing in in person, we did a real good job coordinating without it being too matchey. The sofa/chaise combo is red, but a orangy red, not a fire red. The big chair/ottoman are an deep brown cranberry color and that is in the rug. And it all fits in!!

Right now the Olympic hockey game is on-Canada vs US. It is really funny, since most, if not all the players are in the NHL. A lot of normal penalties are NOT being called, I recognize them, and I am not a hockey fan. Hubby wanted to see it, but needed to go out-he is recharging my bus pass. It needs to be done at the metro station-oddity of system. He is going to stop at Office depot-the computer chair sinks too deep into the rug, so he wants to get a plastic protector, and the one he saw on line was out of stock. He's going to pick up supper-earlier he did laundry. I literaly fell over when I tried to pick up some things. I think I over did moving the books back onto the bookcase yesterday. I do want to get the apartment all set. I need to pace myself better. My brain says I am 25, my body lets me know a day too late that I am not!

We did have a little bit of excitement yesterday, as if we needed anymore. Our apartment is the last apartment before the recycle dropoff area. There are swinging double doors that you go through to get to it and it is normally a quiet area. Yesterday, we strongarmed our love seat out of our apartment, hubby walking backward. I couldn't see any thing. His behind had just opened the swinging doors when the buildings fire alarm system went off!! Our eyes met and we both said "OH NO!" At least we were both up and dressed. This was 8 AM, fairly early for a Saturday. I felt sorry for the cats! There were a few people that didn't bother coming out. It was someone on the 3rd floor who had burned breakfast.

This is the normal reason the fire alarm goes off. Someone is cooking, burns something and instead of opening a window and running a fan to blow the smoke out, the open the apartment door. The building sensors have to be set to catch that smoke! The firefighters come prepared with huge fans to vent the smoke out of the apartment. But it is always someone cooking on the 3rd floor. Well, one time it was a faulty sensor in the furnace area.

The thing that burned me, was the person we could see on the 3rd floor, looking out of the window, talking on the phone, fully mobile-if this had been a real fire someone would have had to risk their life for her. Meanwhile, my husband was in his wheelchair outside. Are people really that stupid? She did come out eventually, and right after she did, we were allowed to go back in. But what if it was for real? Would it have been right for her stupidity, her questioning the alarm, to cause someone else to risk their life? Or am I over reacting?
