Getting old?

I think that I have broken whatever slump I was in. I actually crocheted last night. Not a whole lot, mind you, but some. (and my fingers didn't hurt this morning-hmmm). But to get to the title of today's entry- I have discovered a rhythm to my evenings. I get home, we get supper, eat, wathch the news-then turn on Wheel of Fortune/Jeopardy-and I nap during both of those shows. I mean a solid sleep, sitting up on the couch. Last night it was with crochet hook in hand. I did manage to see who won last night's Jeopardy-then hubby and I watched dvd "Stargate" then turned on "The Mentalist". don't know why we did that, he called DD and we missed most of the story, but then we ended up watching most of Iron Chef Japan. Which meant it was close to midnight before sleep, which meant a little oversleeping-see a pattern here? Got to break it. Even if we don't stay up late, usually around 7, my eyes want to take a little nap. I am not that old.

Funny, I remember my mother taking naps as soon as she got home from work around 3:30-well not quite. I would have a fresh pot of coffee made, she would drink some and read the newspaper. Depending on what was for supper-I would be the designee helper-i.e. peel potatoes, lift pans, fetch/carry etc. Once it was started, she would lay on her bed and read her magazines-and usually fall asleep-until about 5:30. My dad got home at 6 most nights. Wednesdays & Fridays he got home at 9, Thursdays he was off, and Saturdays he got home at 5. He was a tailor and he liked to cook, so Thursdays he usually cooked. Sometimes my mother would tell us to wake her when my father got home-especially as we got older. Then it was up to me to get the supper on, and make sure it didn't burn. On the nights my dad worked late, supper was a pick up meal-leftovers, whatever we could make-at least from the time I was 11 or so. Wow, did I get off track, I was meaning to talk about the naps. When my father did work late, she would usually sleep from the time she got home till he got home. So, maybe it is age.

Talk to you later.
