Celebrating?

Friday when DH went to the store he bought 2 lobster tails. He has never eaten lobster-he said that he tried it as a little kid, didn't like it and they never had him tried it again. He had picked them up for me-they were on special. So I asked what was he going to eat when I made them-they couldn't be refrozen. No answer. I asked if we still had steaks in the freezer-yup-another pickup on special. Last night I made steak and lobster tails. Considering I had never made lobster tails they didn't come out bad. And He liked them. I cut the tails in half and sauted them in olive oil/butter, very simple, very plain. Then I made a pan sauce with cheap champaigne (that we had opened on Thanksgiving) butter and cream, salt & butter all in same pan. DH wasn't sure about the sauce-but I liked it. I pan sauted the steaks too-next time I do this, I will cook 1 steak then start the tails. My tail was overcooked a little because I put it into a warm oven to stay warm. After we ate, we cleaned the living room.

Had to wait till then cause DH had to work 2 hour over time at home. So for the first hour and half I crocheted and watched tv and relaxed-we agreed that cleaning would be a joint project. It was an enjoyable evening. Although he couldn't see what the big thing was with the lobster..I will admit I would rather have a big baked stuffed lobster than a small lobster tail, but it was a nice supper and very unexpected for a weeknight. I didn't even know I was going to be that elaberate until I started cooking. But it was steak and lobsters-that is a special meal.
