Peaceful

I have done something to a back muscle-it is just one, but it is taking it's sweet time getting better. Unfortunately I can be moving fine, turn to talk to DH and there it goes-major spasm that literally has me immobile and breathless and speechless. Warm heat helps a little as does OTC pain relievers, but I am getting tired of this. DH saw it happen again and said enough-stop cleaning now. I don't care what you want to do, you can't do this and expect to be able to make it to work. (And I HAVE to make it to work). So he set me up on the couch, proper pillow propping my back, and with my knitting and pattern at hand I worked on his sweater.

I should say, I frogged his sweater. I got the left shoulder done ok, but the right shoulder gave me fits. I have learned that wood needle and metal needles of the same size aren't really the same size. That I cannot watch movies and knit at the same time. And, that I do knit easier when music is on. Even if I have to stop to sing along!!

I am now joining the left shoulder and the right shoulder with a cast on in between. I am not going to get my homework done by tomorrow night. But I am going to the knit shop tomorrow and Wednesday. And life goes on.

On family news, DD texted-DGD11 took a first in trumpet competition. We then got a call from DGD11-she got a first but wasn't happy because she had a breathing problem and didn't do the piece perfectly so she didn't think that she should have gotten a first. DH & I talked to her and I explained to her that the judges don't only look for mistakes, but they look for the types of mistakes and for how difficult the piece of music is, the age of the player etc similar to how figure skating is judged-and they don't just give away firsts. So her piece was harder than others, she played the notes properly, and restarted from her breathing error to the end. And Dh told her that she did better than a lot of competitors since she didn't give up and still played the music. Today her teacher gets the formal write up on how she did. I told her to talk to the teacher on ways to improve her breathing and strengthen her diaphram-including a very heavy weight on the diapram (while she lays on the floor). Breathing exercises etc. But what I think it may have been was nerves. She knew her music was harder than everyone elses-the teacher had told her. So it got to her a little. But by the end of the call she wasn't down any more. She was giggling with Dh. And we told her to have fun for the rest of the day-enough stress for one day!. Her mom agrees!
