Falling and being older

Or should I say "I am clumsy!"

DH and I were doing some laundry last night and I brought things that had to hang dry into the apartment-in the hamper. Normally no problem. Have done it dozens of times. Walked into the den to go into the kitchen where the drying rack is. Somehow the hamper caught onto something and all I knew was I was going down. My left inside elbow and left knee hit the ground hard. Beautiful purple coloring. The knee is swollen somewhat and numb feeling. A little pain but I can walk on it and bend it. There was no give in the floor. It is cement under the wood.
(But I made it into work today!!)

The cat just stayed on the couch and blinked her eyes. At least a dog would have come over and tried to comfort me!!
DH was in the laundry room.

It seems like I landed 'high' on my knee-not where I use to land when I was a kid, but more like I was trying to go flat on my left side. Maybe that will save my kneecap. I am of the age where a fall like that means 'danger Will Robinson, DANGER!" and I don't want knee surger! Only the bruising is on the inside of the leg-weird, I don't thing that I could recreate my fall if I really wanted to.

So that was some of the excitement.

The other excitement was a shipment-DH had ordered-with my knowledge some summer dresses for me. I hate wearing pants/slacks/jeans in the summer. There have been summer sales going on for work/casual dresses and we have ordered some. They have started arriving. Some had to be hung last night-And I am wearing one now. Cute little thing, long enough to be comfortable and to cover scarring on leg. Has sweater to cover things that need to be covered at work, but works well for home and out too! Don't I sound like a girl!

For so long I didn't enjoy buying clothes, now I do. The chances of these being good enough for work next year are slim to none. Well, some of the skirts may work, but the others will be too big. I will be happy. My closet is full. For the first time since my 20s I can open my closet and work with my clothes and feel confident in what I put together. I do need to pick up some summer sandals-next on the list.
