Heat in the City

Ok, it is hot. It is humid. And something tells me that it is here to stay. So, why is my body not adjusting to it? I dress appropriately. We don't have the apartment too cold so that there isn't a "heat shock" when we walk out. And even work AC temps are not that cold. But I cannot seem to stay healthy in the heat, and no amount of cool/cold water is helping-even if I splash it on myself as well as drinking it. And I am tired of getting sick after being outside for a couple of hours, and I am not really outside for that long, maybe 20 minutes at a time. Then I am back into AC, either bus or store. Guess I need to move to Minnesota or Alaska!

Other than the heat, this weekend was very pleasant. Not much was done, not much to do. Once we got home, I was too hot-sponge off with cool water, lay down in AC bedroom and I fall asleep. Next thing I know, 3 hours has passed. The weekend goes by really fast when that happens.

My DD starts her new job today. The guy that helped her get the job is going to be her manager. They worked together before, and have a good working relationship. So this job should turn into a career. I hope so. I hope she can settle down and be happy enough. I have told her to watch her temper and attitude. They both can get sharp. She took that advice with the intent it was meant.

DGD is helping her godmother clean house. DGD is 12. Old enough by law to stay by herself during the day, old enough to get bored, too old for 'babysitter'. And young enough to get into trouble if left too long to many days. So godmother, who is mom's best friend, and is a teacher, and cheerleader/dance coach steps in sometimes. Just enough not to be obvious, and to keep it fun. This allows DGD to get with some of the older girls when babysitter is needed.

The girs have to meet strict grade and social/behavior guidelines to stay on the team. Really helps with DGD behavior and gives her role models that make sense too.

Oh, point of pride, DGD had perfect GPA. Only one in school. Hope she can keep it up in high school.

I guess enough bragging for now.
