Triggered

I will admit that I get triggered by things.

The main thing is anything that hints at child neglect or abuse. Especially if it comes close to what happened to me as a child.

I don't think that I am unusual in this.

If you tell me a child has to 'earn' their food,

If you tell me a child has to 'earn' their clothes, or the right to have their clothes cleaned with the rest of the family's,

If you tell me a child has to 'earn' the right to enjoy any of the fun other members of the family is enjoying,

If you tell me that any type of medical care can be delayed because it is not important, that it won't harm the child to wait,

I WILL RESPOND.

(I know the above is not proper sentence structure, I did it to make my point)

I would rather hurt your feelings now, than not defend a child. I am an adult, I can take it. And maybe you didn't mean it the way it sounded, but I am not willing to take that chance. With any child.

See, no one stood up for me. And I will not let that happen again if I can help it.

So I hope this explains why I was so upset Friday.

Especially when I know the person involved, and it didn't sound right.
