Well, despite having the barbarians hordes at the virtual gates, the manuscript I needed to edit for much needed funds finally found its way through the gates a few minutes ago and I'll be spending most of the weekend working hard.

When I worked as an assistant editor for a small science fiction publisher in the early 1980s people used to tell me that reading the slush and editing would eventually turn a writer off toward reading or writing in the same field. I don't believe that that is necessarily true, but it does get to be a drag and a kind of sensory overload. I loved the Donning/Starblaze line and there were only two books that came out in which I was disappointed. One of those was foisted upon us because the author was a friend of the publisher. Fortunately that idiot left the field. these days I can't even remember his name. But I think he's writing mysteries now. The point of the story is this: CONNECTIONS MAY GET ONE'S FOOT IN THE DOOR BUT ONLY TALENT, PERSEVERENCE AND DETERMINATION KEEP IT FROM CLOSING IN YOUR FACE. AND squishing your toesies in the process. lol. I wish I could remember that writer's name. Dave something or other....hmmmnn.

Otherwise, I got no writing done today. I've spent the entire day burning cds and backing up my computer. I'm still having paranoid fits. Running endless virus scans. Screaming, yelling. Making dire threats. Has anyone ever heard of the five point military tie down with the portugese variation? that's what I'd like to do to the hackers who create viruses.
