I am an out of the closet, bi-sexual gender queer and have long believed that the personal is political. Perhaps that is simply a bit of 1960s idealism that most people have outgrown; but it remains near and dear to me.

I am the best-selling dark fantasy ebook author of the Dark Brothers of the Light series. I made my first short story sale at 23. it appeared in Amazons! which took the World Fantasy Award for best anthology in 1980

update on my son

Cross-posted from my lj

X-rays revealed that what was causing the extreme pain was four kidney stones. He passed one in the night. However there are three more. What is causing the most trouble is that the largest one is nearly an inch long. There is another one on that same side, the left, and one on on the right.

The specialist wanted to operate to remove the big one. David, who is terrified of needles (seriously freaked by the IV he's had since yesterday) insisted on trying the ultrasound first. The doctor thinks that because of the size and shape of the stone that this isn't going to work.

David's friend Adam stayed all night with him at the hospital and I'm grateful. He was also there when the doctor was telling David all of this.

It will require a battery of more tests to determine what caused the stones in the first place.

Some time in the next couple of days David will be traveling to Springfield for the ultrasound. Hopefully that will prove successful and he will not require surgery to remove it.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and prayers here. I'll keep an update going until I know something more and David is okay again. 21 is very young for something like this to happen.
