I am an out of the closet, bi-sexual gender queer and have long believed that the personal is political. Perhaps that is simply a bit of 1960s idealism that most people have outgrown; but it remains near and dear to me.

I am the best-selling dark fantasy ebook author of the Dark Brothers of the Light series. I made my first short story sale at 23. it appeared in Amazons! which took the World Fantasy Award for best anthology in 1980

My Sister's Keeper

My Sister's Keeper, the first volume of the Journey of the Sacred King, has been turned in for production by my editor, Karen E. Taylor. I adore working with Karen. We went over the editorial changes online is two sessions on two consecutive days. She makes me think and finds stuff I missed that would have left me horribly embarrassed if it had gone to print that way.

Authorial blindness is a very real thing. Now, I'm going to be very honest and tell you about my blushing moment so that I can illustrate my point better.

I have a battle scene in My Sister's Keeper in which an ogre (one of the good guys btw) drops this tree he has been using as a club to scoop up two mages and deposit them in a safe place before picking his club back up and wading into the bad guys. And guess what?

I had left out all mention of his uprooting that durn tree in the first place. So it was like "oops, where'd he get that tree?"

My mind, because I knew my story so well, was filling in the blanks without my noticing it.

Anyway, end of cautionary anecdote.

I have seen the artist's rough sketch for the cover and I like it. So far, it appears that this will be the best of the lot.

My Sister's Keeper was written before I started the Dark Brothers series. Some of the minor characters in the four books of the Sacred King quarto were screaming for their places in spotlights, so after I had finished the four volumes of this series, I went on to start the Dark Brothers series.

It is ironic that since Dark Brothers came out first, Sacred King might be viewed as a prequel, when actually the former was a sequel to the latter.
