The horn works, now the brakes don't, now try the timing.

If there is a cosmic timing belt, then I've lucked out. It's the last day of a vacation and I'm looking "forward" to a Dad appointment and work turbulence. I packed up for a trip down to Long Beach on our local transit to dine and sight see, but first I had to stop at the express teller on the way to the initial bus boarding. Slowing down on a side street to park and walk a pair of streets to the bank, out went my brakes. There are many worse places to have discovered this! Most of them, as a matter of fact. After getting the money, I reflected on my way of taking the bicycle on a carrier and then riding home from the repairman who only was a short mile away, but heading back to get the bike would involve more hazardous driving.

I delivered it and went to the bus stop on the boulevard. We have a "Dash" bus, fifty cents or thereabouts, but along came the regular dollar-fifty transit bus and surprise, the fare box was broken and the driver just waved me in. More good timing, to state the obvious. I got out a half mile from the abode and right behind us was one of the "Dash" buses. Well, now to check on the bus versus four-mile bike ride to the folks'.
