So who's the "twerp" ?

Ahead of me was an SUV with a bumper sticker: "I don't believe the liberal press." Shame on me, I know there's a lot of this as a "saying" around and it was selfishness about my daydreaming on a worn-asphalt hazy afternoon being, the outrage, impinged on that pushed my button.

I did pass this vehicle. I was a very short mile from the parents' long time house so I know the area has been mainly Hispanic for a longer time than some others. Of course: the driver seemed to be Caucasian, pretty much in my age range, and I caught him. I sure did. He was talking on his cell phone while driving! That's illegal in these parts, Mr. Simplistic-Hostile.

But why don't I reveal what happened between the reading of the sticker and the sighting of the phone usage? We both made left turns, and coming into our paths from the opposite direction, the fastest one to contact, was a pedestrian into the crosswalk. The SUV may have entered by a split second, but the fuming driver following him was more clearly in violation of what has always been a valid principle, legislation or none. The lady was untouched.

But next time I criticize someone's zealousness to make an otherwise mundane point, I hope it isn't me like this time. As Richard Boone said in the long-ago silly western "Rio Conchos" and my favorite kind of movie quote, the secondary one, "Doing like they do don't make it better!"
