The race to (the) Register.

A block away from the Saticoy portion of the preceding narrative the route of the Pacific Surf Liners runs. The other day I was on one and a pair of ladies were having a conversation as we rolled past the Ventura County portion of the ocean which also touches the O.C. Generally bits came through to my otherwise not honed in ears about others' medications, marriages---and then came a quick assent from one she liked a columnist in the Register. It was one Thomas Sowell. Darn, I remembered the name and vaguely that he was another who caused poor nino Dan here some discomfort. Mr. Gent is little Mr. Positive in this entry, I know!

Yes, another time but where? Back at home, since I have yet to purchase a goofy-phone, I looked him up and for a moment kept to the summaries of the results. One was various of his quotes and the teaser was, how come we take money from those who have earned it yet insist on handing it to the undeserving? Okay, the "rightie" flag has been waved with great emphasis and snapping of fabric. Time to cross fingers, then uncross them and type to zero in.

I dived into the Wikipedia entry and one factor, one idea, so much in keeping with this blog, brought back so much to me. Yes, race matters, often not in a good way: Thomas Sowell is black. And I remember the scowling picture and his main topic.

The Avuncular Tom I read and have no doubt could continue to read for the same ideas, wan anti-affirmative action and went after liberals with greater gusto than, now that I remember where I read him, fellow Daily News occupier Scorched Earth Debbie. Well, with Sowell being black and Saunders sitting on that nice peninsula above Silicon Valley nudge nudge, maybe there's a celebration at least of the idea stereotypes can be shattered.

By conservative estimate, nay, consensus, T. J., D. J, and U. T. might agree.
