Faux Pas?

I've had a great couple of days, filled with friends, work and exercise.

I was almost late for my private Tai Chi lesson, but I made it...with two minutes to spare. Although I have a mind like a steel sieve, and we'll just have to see if I actually remember any of what I was taught come our next class!

Then I got to go to work, which I will admit has not been something I've been looking forward to. However, it wound up being a good day. I even got to work out at work - we wound up with about 45 minutes to burn after we set up all the sound equipment, and me and a couple friends took turns showing off our exotic push-ups, ab work and other strange phenomenon. I was the most flexible of the group, but Tim won the exotic push-up contest. Best part? Our Canadian organist, Julian, joined us for about ten minutes! I was suitably impressed.

Unfortunately, I may have committed a faux pas. Friday, my presence was requested at a women's event to record Leesa, Lake's interim senior pastor's wife. I was annoyed that I got roped into doing it; not that I minded doing her a favor, but it was a late request and I really didn't have the extra resources to cover it. Long story short, I made an ill-considered comment at the end of our conversation...meant as a joke, but I realized later that it could have been taken seriously. I opened my big mouth after she thanked me and said "oh sure, anything for the pastor's wife!" I then assured her I was joking, which I mostly was, but that's the sort of thing you just don't say to modern-minded women.

Stupid. Stupid. And I thought I got out of politics...

Today was great; Rob did most of my job for me, nobody yelled at me (do choir members waving at me frantically from 150 feet away count?), I got my work done and I was able to come home early. Another weekend is over! Yay! Now if I can just avoid going back to work before Wednesday...which, unfortunately, is impossible. At some point I'll just accept the fact that I have to work 55 hours a week and I don't get "weekends."

Oh well - I have tickets to see Alex Acuna at the Disney Concert Hall tonight, compliments of Anne, the LAC Choir President. Thanks Anne! Off to a shower, then I have to find some dress clothes...what are those?
