She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Swaying from exhaustion

I am completely, totally, utterly exhausted. I don’t think I slept at all last night. If I did, it wasn’t more than three hours. We went to bed at 1:30 and I read until 2. I got up before 5 to go to the bathroom and re-read the info on the medication I’m taking for esophogeal flutter (no, that’s not the official problem, but that’s the best way I can describe it and I’m not getting up to check the real name). I had been labouring under the misapprehension that I wasn’t supposed to take any other heartburn meds while I was taking this daily one. In reality, I wasn’t supposed to take them closer than half an hour apart. So I chewed on a very soft Remegel (the acid relief of gods), which helped my tummy, which wasn’t so much heartburn-y as gasseous and rumbly. I then got up at 5 and went to the living room and read until 6. I tried to sleep again, but at 6:30 or 7 I sat back up and read in bed until 7 or 7:30, whereupon I laid back down and was probably sleepy enough to sleep, but we had to get up at 8.

We went to CP Prize (for you non-Caidans, the CP is the Crown Prints, the Kingdom newsletter, and this is the big yearly fund-raiser where they bring in thousands of dollars for the publication. The CP is a gorgeous newsletter and that’s due in large part to the Kingdom’s generosity.), which was in the desert and hot hot hot. Luckily there was a lot of shade, and a cool breeze for most of the afternoon. We didn’t win anything in the raffles except for a gift for someone else. I bought a shuttle for the inkle loom that Ken’s making me. That was about it.

We came home, did a quick skim of the pool, and dove in. It was chilly because we haven’t got the solar panels on, because we have to check them for leaks. But it still felt sooooo good. We used the slide for the first time. It’s a scary slide: It goes straight down at one point. And then it flings you into the middle of the pool. The first time, I was laughing so hard that I swallowed water (I laugh hysterically on roller coasters and the like). Once we were properly cooled off, we crawled into the hot tub for a lovely soak. Then I showered (chlorine in hair is bad), made a salad, we ordered pizza, and watched most of “Kate and Leopold” until Eilidh showed up.

And now it’s well past time for much sleeping.
