Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Travelling

We’re on the plane to DC, where we’ll change for Burlington. My mom will pick us up at the airport and we’ll have dinner with my friends Kitty and Susan, and Susan’s husband Mitch. Should be fun, except for the fact that we’re totally wiped. We got only four or five hours of sleep last night. I “napped” for a little bit after breakfast on the plane, but couldn’t really sleep. Ich.

Let’s see. Yesterday we went to Lyondemere Anniversary. It was a mellow, low-key event, which we mostly spent sitting and chatting with friends. Meg’s daughter Julian played boffers and we cheered her on, and we put tickets in for a basket raffle but once again won nothing. We went out to dinner at a Thai place with Meg afterwards, and then headed home and packed and cleaned out the fridge, that sort of thing. We still didn’t get into bed until after 11 (I was shooting for 10) and then I had trouble sleeping…

But, I’m up now, and I might as well try and get something accomplished. Onwards!

So now we’re in the Washington/Dulles Airport, with a decent layover. Every other time I’ve come through here (usually to Burlington), I’ve had to _run_ for my connection. So this is pleasant. We grabbed a bite to eat at a place that advertises “the best grilled chicken sandwiches on earth”. We can’t comment on that, because neither of us had a grilled chicken sandwich. Ken had grilled chicken fajitas and I had a grilled chicken caesar salad. (You can see the theme, though.) Currently, Ken’s reading and I’m catching up on overdue e-mail. And we keep pausing to kiss, which is always fun. J

Okay, the Drafts folder is down to 14, and I’ve got 14 messages to send (some of them quickies not related to the other ones). Ken says I need to sit in airports more often… My right hand is beginning to hurt, so I’m going to take a break.
