Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Sales, sewing, scribbling

“Testing the Waters”: 830

So I sat down to read for a bit last night, and the short story started intruding. So I grabbed the notebook and scribbled a few lines. Read some more. Wrote some more. Amazing how all that works. Apparently this story isn’t going to let me go until it’s done. And that’s just fine with me.

Hey, a story sale! “Catalyst”, a fantasy erotica, has been accepted by StoryMistress. Alas, the pay is a mere $20; the story’s 10k long and most places wouldn’t take it. Ah well. There are always reprints, too.

And we have achieved cable, so now I can waste copious amounts of time in front of the TV if I so choose. Not that I usually do.

Ken was on the roof until 9 p.m. last night fixing the pipes. He was going to check them this morning, after everything had dried out…except that it was inexplicably raining this morning. Go figure.

Had sewing night tonight; Amy and Osanna came and we all worked until 11:30 or so. I put the trim around the neckline of my Celtic tunic, only to find it still doesn’t lay right. [sigh] I’ll keep phutzing with it for awhile. Ken started a new doublet, out of a gorgeous gold brocade. He’s going to look very yummy in it.

Speaking of yummy, I bought a lime marinade recently, and tonight I used it with fresh shrimp and onions, and made Mexican rice and warmed up black beans, which we put in tortillas with sour cream and salsa and jalapeńos.
