She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Earaches and earthquakes

We slept in for a bit today, then crawled out of bed and ate something and slowly became coherent. Then I took Ken to an urgicare place because he’d been complaining of an earache since Friday night. The upshoot it, it looks like both an inner and middle ear infection, so he’s on antibiotics and ear drops and nasal spray. We grabbed lunch at Carl’s and picked up more stuff at Home Depot. Came home, and Marty was here, so they worked for another three hours and got everything finished. Then Ken and I went back out to get his prescriptions filled.

Well, _that_ was interesting. At 12:09 a.m. (okay, really Tuesday), I stood up during a TV commercial and thought, “The dishwasher is loud.” Only the dishwasher wasn’t on, because at the same moment, Ken said, “Earthquake.” He felt it move, but dammit, I didn’t. So, being Californians, we ran to the study and logged onto Caltech’s computer page and filled out info. We’re waiting to see if there’ll be an update.

I’m mostly packed. Honest.
