Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

I'll be lonely without you

BH: 328

So, Ken’s away again, and I sigh and swoon and continue on with life. Had a lovely chiro appt this morning—I went on Monday, but Doc was busy with another patient, and I had to go to my dentist appt. So today I got my adjustment immediately and then an extra-long massage that felt soooo good. Afterwards I stopped at Jenny’s Fabrics and picked up a new bobbin box (for the bobbins for the Viking) and a goth-y pattern.

I keep forgetting to mention: I got the nicest compliment Monday night. It was from a fairly new person to the SCA who’d come to sewing night. He’s in a privateer household and although he’s sewn before, wanted help patterning an outfit. We mostly looked over the Elizabethan costuming book to suss out what he wanted. (I wasn’t sure exactly what time period privateer would be, and was a very good girl and didn’t roll my eyes when he said “seventeenth century…or maybe eighteenth. Nor did I say, “Not in the SCA , honey.”) Anyway, we had a lot of people that night, including one other rank newcomer, and because Ken had taken Genna and Brhiannont to the airport, I was juggling everyone myself. But when Max left, he made a point of thanking me (all of us, really) and said he’d felt very welcomed and at home. And that made me so chuffed! It’s extremely important to me that our home be a friendly, welcoming place for people, in which they find joy and friendship. To know that we succeeded makes me very happy indeed.

Dammit! Ken’s hotel TV doesn’t get the WB, so he can’t watch “Angel” with me. I’d’ve taped it so we could watch it together, but it’s already started. [grumble] While we’re on the subject of “Angel”, though, who does Electrobabe look like? She looks like some other actress, and it’s driving me quietly nuts.

Man, they’re doing a bad job of hiding Charisma Carpenter’s pregnancy. Oh, and Electrobabe looks like a brunette Glory. I feel better now.

I need to pay attention to the back and side yards and figure out where the sun hits, as part of my several-month learn-about-gardening plan. I also need to research the right soil for herbs, veggies, and cacti, and what plants like shade. If anyone knows anything about this (particularly in relation to So CA), please let me know!

This disjointed entry was brought to you by the letter J and the number 42.
