Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

A fine sandwich

Sometimes, it just takes something as simple as a fine sandwich to make all things right with the world. In this case, it was toasted wheat, avocado, roma tomato, alfalfa and onion sprouts, swiss cheese, and a smear of mayo. The only downside is that now I have to go and clean the kitchen from the sandwich-making detrius.

My brain is skipping all around today, so it’s a good thing I have various To Do lists on which to write things down. There’s the printed-out daily list of this week and next week, which allows me to include meetings and errands, and to basically divide out all the things I have to do by each day. There’s sometimes another daily list, handwritten, which has random little things that don’t really warrant the other list being reprinted, but which gives me the satisfaction of crossing more things off the list. And recently I started scribbling down (electronically) what we needed to do for Pentathlon, which grew to have a sublist of things to do before Sarah gets here (that are non-Pent-related), and now has things to do before Dave gets here and the party starts.

What can I say? I’m a flaky irresponsible artist whose brain is filled with creative things.

Hah. I’m the dependable, organised one. That’s what everyone says. Gods, I hate that.

Ken’s coming home! Now! It’s 11:20 p.m. and he just called and he’s at LAX! He’s so cool. I get to snuggle with him tonight. Life is so good.

Today I finished copy editing the latest journal, but now I have to index it, and finish that by Sunday at the latest. Whoo. I also got through a lot of the In Box, although not as much as I would have liked. And I finally went through and wrote the Avant Courier booklet—it’s a packet of info to give to potential event sites, explaining who we are, what we do, and what we need from a site. I gave the draft to the Baron & Baroness and the Seneschal at the Council meeting tonight, and when I have their comments I’ll clean it up and add pictures.

The days seem to be going so fast. I’m editing and writing and cleaning cat boxes and eating salad and the next thing I know, I’m running off to a meeting. Jaysus. Can’t I have just a few more hours, please?
