Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

exercise: does weeping count?

Woke up late again. Poor Ken has been hit with a cold, so we curled up and napped for as long as we could. Unfortunately, there were too job fairs today, but he was too groggy to go to them. Ah well.

Eclipse didn’t eat last night, and then yarked several times, and has been so listless she barely moves. So, as you know from the other post, we took her to the vet. Dr. Chapman was really sweet, and I’m glad we got to be there with her (even if it did cost us). We’re also getting the ashes, and will probably scatter them at the big cat center.

I’ve never had to do this before. My one main pet growing up, a beagle named Tipsy (I was not yet born and thus have no responsibility for that name), lived to a ripe old age. When my parents realised he was sick, they told me one morning before school to say goodbye to him, and I did, and when I came home, they told me he was gone. I was sad, but it was still sort of distant. Andrew kept Porthos when we split up, and I was sad when Porthos died, but I wasn’t there.

Today, it was just so strange. I have no fear that we made the wrong decision or anything. She wasn’t doing well at all. But…I knew even before Dr. Chapman told us she was gone. I could feel it. I’ve never been present at death before. Part of me wishes I could put it into words, me being a writer and all. Maybe I’ll try, when I can remember it without crying. I miss her.

Meanwhile, Grimoire has been sneezing a lot over the past few days, so we picked up some antibiotics for him while we were there.

In the afternoon, we ran a few errands. I had to buy a new wallet because Eclipse peed in my purse. I washed the purse with the anti-cat-pee stuff, and it’s drying now; I think it’ll be okay. Nothing else of any import got nuked beyond repair. We picked up a bit more food and have meals planned for the rest of the week, which is restful.

Made marinated steak, baked potatoes, and corn on the cob for dinner. I’m still…not hungry, exactly. Munchy. Don’t know what I want. Hate that. Ate cookie dough, but that wasn’t it.

Watched “Buffy”. Only two more eps ‘til it’s over. Wow.

Oh, so the G4 is up and running again, so yay. I can access e-mail again, and we can both work at the same time. I didn’t have as much mail as I’d feared. But it still took awhile to deal with it all.
