Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Must consolidate

Refinanced the house this morning—well, signed the million pieces of paperwork. It’ll close next week and then we’ll get a hefty cheque. We’ll pay off one bill and then sock the rest of the money away until Ken gets a job. Then we’ll pay off his final student loan (which he’s putting on deferment until he gets a job).

And, another of his former company’s customers has been bcc:ing him on some problems, and then one guy e-mailed him directly and said he’d told his boss that Ken (based on his .sig of Meese Consulting) would probably be willing to come out and do some work. More contract work is A Good Thing. Also shows how much his company needed him, the silly people. And this is the customer in Boston, and we have frequent flier (flyer? Why do neither of these look right anymore?) miles, so maybe we can make a vacation out of it. (Teresa, don’t get too excited; nothing’s set it stone yet. We’ll let you know how things progress. In the meantime, plan on a weekend going to Salem and American’s Stonehenge. [g])

What else, what else? Ken is off to pick up some computers from his old boss so he can do the contract work in Portland, and then we’ll pack up and head north. I need to do some work on my tunic first, and we’ll have to stop and buy some more embroidery floss. I have way too many lists scattered on my desk. Must consolidate. Or cross everything off some of the lists…

Okay. Tunic semi-hemmed (the rest is handwork). Apprenticeship contract updated and printed. Car packed. We’re outta here! See you on Saturday night or Sunday or thereabouts, pets. Enjoy the eclipse tonight!
