Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Awesome ruminations, dude

FYI to all, I went through June’s and July’s comments and added a few. So don’t forget to read back. :-) To Watsuandok, in case you haven’t read back: If you send me your postal address privately, I'll send you my copy of Dry Water. It was good, but I don't think it's one I need to keep on my shelf.

Got up early because the pool repair guy (as opposed to the pool guy) showed up. But the pool repair place hadn’t given him all the parts he needed, so he’ll be back tomorrow. And we had to tell him how to get in through the woodshop, because we’ll be gone all day tomorrow.

Watched “To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar” today, which was greatly amusing even if it was entirely predictable. “Six Degrees of Separation” was supposed to be on, but it wasn’t, which peeved me. I got lots of beading done. We also watched our two nightly eps of “Buffy” (the Sci-Fi channel runs them at 6 and 7 p.m., and cycles through from season one to season six and back again. Tonight we saw season one end and season two opener.).

I want to publicly thank everyone who critiqued “Heaven Has Eyes”. I really thought it was destined for a YA market, so I’m sort of stunned by the positive comments. I love my subconscious, I surely do. Anyway, I did some tweaking to the story and it’s ready to be mailed to F&SF tomorrow.

I’m still ruminating and researching on the doors story.

I made awesome jambalaya today, while watching TV. Ken was my sous chef and dealt with icky dead animal flesh. (I don’t mind beef so much, but I hate dealing with chicken fat. Dunno why.) Anyway, the jambalaya is a “lower calorie” recipe and has no sausage in it, but it does have chicken, ham, and shrimp, as well as onions and green peppers. I was going to put asparagus in it, but I forgot. I can always throw it in tomorrow.

Tomorrow we’re off to a BoD meeting and possibly supper with friends; Saturday is an event and the BoD reception; and Sunday is possibly bkfst with friends and a GWW meeting. So it’s possible I may not have time to post until Sunday. I’ll be thinking of you all, though.
