Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Home again, home again

Forgot to mention: If I count the two stories next to me that just need to be fired back out (and will be within a day or two), I now have 25 stories in the mail. Whee! Several have survived a second cut at wherever they are, too, so hopefully I’ll be getting some nice Yule presents in the form of acceptances. That would be a nice way to end the year.

I didn’t sleep well last night—had to get up too many times to pee, take meds (I developed a headache), deal with cranky cats, etc.—and apparently neither did Ken, because the first thing he did when the alarm went off was call the insurance guy and reschedule for this afternoon. I “slept” until noon, and my headache’s not entirely gone. Despite that, I’m in a good, productive mood. Let’s hope it lasts.

The following is honest-to-god spam I received in my In Box today:

Hello,
I'm a time traveler stuck here in 2003. Since nobody here seems to be able to get me what I need (safely here to me), I will have to build a simple time travel circuit to get where I need myself. I am going to need an easy to follow picture diagram for a simple time travel circuit, which can be built out of (readily available) parts here in 2003. Please email me any schematics you have. I will pay good money for anything you send me I can use. Or if you have the rechargeable AMD dimensional warp generator wrist watch unit available, and are 100% certain you have a (secure) means of delivering it to me please also reply.

No writing today. Dammitall. We met with the insurance guy and went grocery shopping (our larder was bare, bare, bare), and I paid bills and answered e-mail. Maren came over in the evening to work on her notes for Costumer’s Guild tonight. Now I’m bleary, and off to bed.
