Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Vampiric coziness

Last night we watched the special on the portrait, which was _very_ interesting (art geek spies!) and then an ep of “Angel” (one more to finish Season 1), and then we slept hard. We mostly slept in this morning, and lounged, and then did something unusual for us: We went out for breakfast. Discovered Grainne and another lady at the Westminster Café—they’d just finished, but stayed and chatted for a bit.

Then we popped off to Sears to look at radial arm saws (they only had one kind, and it was a “professional grade” one that was far more than we’d want to spend) and buy vacuum cleaner bags. Ken, bless his heart, vacuumed today, and also changed the cat litter. I didn’t expect him to do housework on his mini-vacation home…

We tried to watch “O Brother, Where Art Thou?”, which we’d borrowed from Ken’s mom, but just couldn’t get into it. Ken was curious to see the rest, but didn’t want to watch it w/o me, and I simply had better things to do with my life. I’ve really enjoyed some of the Coen Brothers’ other work, so I was surprised this one didn’t work for me. Hm.

So I ended up doing an astonishing (and probably not intelligent, given the state of my wrist and neck/shoulder now) amount of indexing today, and finished it. That way, I can just review the work tomorrow, get it sent back, and start work on the next job. I realised that I’m taking Thursday “off” (between sewing w/Ceridwen and watching “Neverwhere” w/Amy), and I can’t work during the two days of Collegium, so I’m going to be rushed on this next job. Except that now I’ll have time tomorrow to work on it, yay.

Meanwhile, Ken’s been doing research for his Collegium class (Italian men’s hats) and catching up on e-mail and regular mail and whatnot. So, it’s been cozy. (Absence obviously _does_ make the heart grow fonder; I’m often annoyed when we’re both working in the study and wish I could be alone!)
