She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

He is the whackmaster

Hey, cool! Cat got a job at Pendleton, so she’s going to be staying here for awhile! It’ll still be a hell of a commute for her, but this will be her staging area while she scouts for places to live, etc. It’ll be nice to have regular company while Ken’s away.

Charlie has become a major lap cat. Now, if I’m working on the computer, on my lap is The Place to Be. It’s very cute, even if my legs start falling asleep.

In fact, I’ve suffered through much kitty love today. If I haven’t created enough lap space, Charlie has taken sitting in front of me on the desk and gazing down at the too-small space. Later, Eostre claimed part of the desk and outright picked up my left arm and readjusted it so she could knead comfortably. Being the sucker that I am…

Lots o’copy editing today, which makes for a boring journal entry. Ah well. I made Pad Thai for dinner, and we watched the first episode of “Surviving Nugent”. Now, I really hate reality shows, hate the very concept of them, but this is The Nuge, you know? And that makes it all the more wonderful. I couldn’t have cared less about any of the participants; the vegan was cute but annoying, a few others were annoying. When it came down to the last two, I did care, only because one was more annoying than the other. But The Nuge made it hilarious. (“She stood up to me. I like that. Plus, she’s cute.”) Cat arrived towards the end and jumped right into the spirit of the silliness.

She’s staying with us tonight, and braving the early morning traffic down to her new job site to get a feel for the time/distance. She’ll come back on Sunday night, and stay the week.

She also brought a copy of the Conan O’Brien show with Eliza Dushku as a guest. I hadn’t realised I’d seen it. But we watched it more than once, because Eliza’s short pink plaid skirt nicely highlighted her legs. Oh, why do I have to wait ‘til the end of the month for “Tru Calling”?

Well, it’s late, and I should toddle off to bed. Ken’s working on GWW final figures, but I’m sure I can drag him with me. Tomorrow is another day of editing &tc., with a Company of Clothiers meeting in the evening. We’ll head up early on the bike and have a scrummy Cuban meal at Versailles first.

So, Anywn wants to know what my five favourite Styx songs are. Only five?! I _might_ be able to list five I _don’t_ like. Dammit. I have a list of five scribbled out, but I don’t know. It depends on my mood. I’m partial to the ones on Cyclorama, and some on Brave New World, because they’re more recent. As it is, I’ve picked songs from 1973, 1977, 1978, 1999, and 2003. Two Dennis, one Tommy, one JY, and one Glen. But still I waffle. What about Larry? What about Kilroy Was Here?

I know, I know. Such a tough life I have, making these decisions.
