Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Days and daze

Harvest Tournament was fun, although it was hot hot hot, and muggy (for the southern California desert, that is). I huddled in the shade most of the time, wishing I’d worn a chiton. The scavenger hunt seemed to go over well, with six teams participating. A few people thought outside the box and got extra points for that. Ken heralded and fought rapier, and I’m now officially the Baronial chronicler, eep.

Afterwards, we picked up Baja Fresh, and Maren came over, and we ate and hung out and watched TV and relaxed. Thanks to BBC America, we got to see “Manchild”, the new series with Anthony Stewart Head. It wasn’t worth watching except for him, and even then, it wasn’t much worth watching. He didn’t have a big part in this particular ep. We’ll try another. I painted the inside of my parasol, and nearly finished beading a panel on my cotehardie (an ongoing project). Then I chugged Nyquil and slept the sleep of the Nyquil-drugged, and lo, it was good.

Finished copy editing today, through a mild cold haze and tight neck/shoulders and all. Tomorrow will be indexing day. It will also be writing day, and goodbye to Ken day (he’s off for 9 days in Portland), and sewing night day. To sum: it will be another busy day.
