Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Sacrifice to Silence: coupla sentences
Homecoming: 592

Unsurprisingly, Ken’s arrival has been delayed by a day. I was pretty much expecting it, and it means that Amy and Cat and I will have a nice little Kate-Bush-video-viewing girls’ night.

I finally came up with an idea for the erotic short-short, and I’m working on it now. I also, while in the shower, came up with a way to add some ambiguity/depth to “Sacrifice to Silence” with a sentence or two. So now I’ll let the story sit for a few days, and read it again with a fresher eye.

I had such a lovely evening tonight! All due to Cat and Amy. Amy showed up, and just as we were headed out to Trader Joe’s for provisions, Cat arrived, and went with us. We got cream cheese/pesto/sun-dried tomato spread, blue cheese and pecan dip, and a chocolate torte, among other things. We got back and ordered a cheese-lovers pizza, and Cat sautéed tomatoes and garlic to put on the pizza. Then we sat back and watched tons of Kate Bush videos, and did handwork (although that prompted me to complain that I felt old), and laughed and talked. After Cat crashed, Amy and I watched a couple eps of So Graham Norton. Much silliness, much good friends. I’m thinking we need to make this a regular Friday night thing. (Except, of course, next Friday we’ll be headed to Coronation, and the Friday after that is a newcomers’ revel, and the Friday after that is the day after T’giving…).
