Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Hooves of insomnia

So Ken’s updating his Quicken account, and he comes to a cash card purchase from Japan that says TEIJIAIFURAIDEZUMM21

He’d taken his ex-boss and family out to TGI Friday’s.

Chortle.

Yesterday finished up nicely enough. I got my ration of copy editing done, although it was hard for my brain to focus at times. Then we were hungry, but hadn’t gone food shopping, so we tried out a different Chinese buffet nearby. Definitely much better than the previous one, even if it wasn’t to-die-for Chinese food. Fast and hot and tasty was what we were looking for.

Upon return, I helped Ken clean the garage a bit—at least clean off the table so he can work on the bike, and move a few boxes around so I can get to my garb closet. (Which is a project for another day, but soon.) Then folks showed up for sewing, and sewing happened. I cut out and sewed together a shirt for beneath my Persian coat, and determined that yes, the pattern has _way_ too much seam allowance, so I’ll have to fiddle with that some more.

I got a little more done on the latest collab with Teresa and fired that off to her. The deadline’s the 31st, and I think we’ll do fine. Finally, Ken and I curled up on the sofa and watched a few things, like the “Robbie the Reindeer” specials, which were appropriately bizarre, and I did a little weaving.

I didn’t sleep well last night; or, at least, it took me a long time to fall deeply asleep. Those stupid reindeers kept prancing around in my brain, annoying me.

We went to TJ’s this morning and stocked up on food, and picked up some more presents as well. I’m in a present-wrapping mood, but I need to get a few other things done first. Like, continue adding names/addresses to iMail in preparation for holiday newsletter labels. And, answer e-mail. And, copy editing and writing and…

I did, however, pause in my efforts to have a lovely long chat with Morgana (from Darach). I miss her. I miss all our Darach friends. I’m bummed that we can’t justify the time to go up and go caroling with them all (they’re rehearsing tonight, and then caroling tomorrow night. Well, if it stops raining.).
