Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

We can rebuild it...

For anyone who misses Zork, or anyone who’s a fan of Shakespeare, I give you Hamlet.

So I made my eggs and bacon for breakfast, and settled down with VH-1 Classics, which was playing Ted Nugent, who was singing “Wango Tango”. The video ended, and then there was this photograph of a woman on the screen. “Oh. My. God.” I said around a mouthful of food before the music even started. Because Styx’s “Don’t Let It End” is not a video you see often. Or at all, unless you have it on tape like we Styxgeeks do.

I guess I’m writing reaaallllly boring entries this month, because nobody is commenting. Which is not a pathetic plea for comments; I only want people to comment if they actually have something to contribute.

The day plods along. (Geez, now I’m almost boring myself.) I’ve done some copy editing, and worked on the GP (still waiting for that plug-in, I might add. If it’s not here by Monday, a scathing e-mail will be written). Cat puttered around and watched some TV, but it was stuff I hadn’t caught up to yet, so I worked, which I needed to. We pulled the last bit of stuff from her room (aka the library), because she’ll be bringing more down this weekend. She’s gone now, and the house seems quiet and a bit lonely. Ken called at lunchtime; things are going well in Portland.

Tonight I spent at good 2 hours on rebuilding my submissions file; only a fraction of the work is done, but most of the crucial work is done. I have about 16 stories to mail, although 4 or so need reworking and a few others (erotica, mostly) await a decent and appropriate market. I worked until my brain basically shut down.

Then I watched the latest “Monk” and an ep of “Enterprise” (one more to get caught up), and did my nails and wove whilst watching. I talked to Ken; things continue to go well, both with the machine in question and with plans for future work. And so it goes.
