Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

The strange workings of the universe

I didn’t sleep well last night. It was odd: I was cold, but also sweating. Hrm. So, unsurprisingly (and guiltily), I didn’t get up early to be at B&N when it opened, to work for a few hours. Instead (should have been unsurprisingly), I fretted until the opened ordering tickets for the Styx concert in Phoenix. (I know, I know, I need a life. I thought I had one. Now, where did I put it?) I got fourth row, but on the “wrong” (i.e., non-Larry) side. I’m so spoiled that I have to keep reminding myself that no, these really are good seats. Sheez. Now, the OK City show, I should be able to get good seats for… (I swear to you, pets, we’d already planned the bike trip to AR before Styx listed the summer tour dates! I swear to you that we’d already planned to be halfway between Clovis, NM, and Hot Springs, AR—which is in fact right about OK City—before I had any clue there’d be a concert there on that exact night!)

Honest. I swear!

I edited today, which was boring and hard to concentrate on. I have almost no e-mail left to answer, which is always nice. I went to A&S tonight, which was about research and documentation, and has me all fired up to write a research paper for Pentathlon, if only I could pick a decent topic. (Suggestions? Please? Something manageable in 15 pages [not including endnotes and bibliography]?)

Actually, what I need to start thinking about is the Gyldenholt A&S contest. I have some ideas, but I need to actually make a plan for the various projects and get started on them.

In my copious free time.
