She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Technology rocks (and so does Ken)

Had an eye appt this morning. They’re going to try me on soft contacts! Apparently the technology has gotten that good. I have a scar on my right eye from an ill-fitting contact in my past, and it shoves any gas permeable contact off-centre, meaning they can’t get that eye to 20/20. With the soft lens, I imagine it will fit over the scar. I also ordered new glasses, because mine are about 8 years old and all the anti-glare coating is peeling off, to the point where I can see the peel line. I’m getting very tiny wire-rimmed glasses, because my prescription is so strong. They look pretty good, though.

I got home and found Ken in Cleaning Mode, and when he’s in Cleaning Mode, the best thing to do is chip in and/or get out of the way. I chipped in a bit, and now I’m out of the way, fixing the typos on the GP and printing the labels and so forth. I get physically tired very easily right now. Dammit. Ken vacuumed the entire house (including moving the kitchen table to vacuum beneath it, etc.) and scrubbed the bathtub in the main bathroom, among other things. He’s so wonderful. :-)

The cable modem now works sporadically. It just made little singing noises at me and burped up some e-mail, and then stopped working again. Weird.

Ken went and got a new cable modem, and set it up with 15 minutes to spare—I got an e-mail during the last burp that Golden Circle tickets were going on sale for three (THREE! sheez) Styx concerts I want to go to.

But Ken rocks, and I was able to get in in time. Fourth-row seats to VA Beach (with Sarah and Fiona—it’ll be Fiona’s first-ever concert), and fifth-row in Sacramento. I never found decent seats for Washington State—they’re pricey tickets and they’d have to be really awesome seats to make it worthwhile.

Whew.

I called Sarah to let her know about the VA Beach tickets, and we did that high-pitched girly squeal about the fact that she’ll be here in less than two days. I later got an e-mail from her that she told Fiona about the fourth-row seats, and Fiona babbled incoherently. I would’ve liked better seats (and may still investigate the possibility of an agency) but I’m glad they’re both stoked.

I didn’t get much done today. I’m not sure where the day went, except that I didn’t want to wake up, and did in just enough time to shower and get to my eye appt. In the afternoon, I did drop off the GP, and then we went food shopping, so the fridge looks like people live here again and we can actually make meals as opposed to, oh, ordering out. Or going to Ken’s mom’s for supper, as we did tonight (although she invited us, so it’s not like we were mooching).

I’m so behind on e-mail. Blah.

We watched “The West Wing” tonight and flipped channels for a while, and then decided it was high time to get some sleep. So that’s what I’m off to do now.
