Finalist, finally!

Squee!

Upon returning home from this weekend’s activities and festivities, I found the following e-mail:

“You're a Finalist in the Brava Novella Contest!!
We'll post your entry Monday!
Congrats Dayle!”

I entered this on a lark. I had seen the contest and not thought much about it, but then at the WfH workshop, Chris York brought the gls, and several of us decided to enter. I dashed off 750 words on an idea I’d had that I didn’t think I could push to novel-length, but I could probably wrap a novella around. I took a chance with my entry—you can see how if you read it.

And more squee! I just checked the website, and Phaedra’s is there, too! You can read them both at

Brava publishes erotic romance, so be warned that these are PG- to R-rated.

At the end of this month, the top 20 will be sent to a Brava editor, who will read all of them in consideration for Brava contracts.

So, now I have to write that novella! I’m going to give myself a week in early November. It’s already mostly plotted by major events in each chapter, and I’m just going to have fun with it.

Even if this doesn’t fly, I’m hoping it’ll give me an “in” at Brava, because with Sarah’s agreement I’d like to send our novel-formerly-written-for-Blaze there.

I really needed news like this right now!
